· Do not confuse with al = “child” and yal “child of mother”. The basic noun for al = “child” begins with a vowel, so the possessed form of that is yal = child of (mother). In contrast, the basic form of the verb is yal = “to throw down”, which begins with a consonant, so the ergative form with third person active would be uyal.
