YAX Lintel 16 A3a YAX Lintel 16 E1
AJ:wa:<k’a[bi]> wa:k’a be:AJAW
· Pronunciation:
o Prager-PhD-p1.p244.pdfp258.tab16(continued).#1 (2013) gives wak’aab – perhaps because of the disharmonic spelling of YAX Lintel 16 E1.
o Martin-AMP.p397.pdfp421.r2.c5 (2020) gives the pronunciation as wak’ib? (with a question mark). The reason for /i/ is unclear to me.
o VepretskiiEtAl-FSEM.p1.pdfp1.l+5 (2025) is more cautious. It recognizes the initial phonetic complement of wa, but doesn’t assign a reading to the bird-head glyph itself: The aim of this study is to analyze the Santa Elena epigraphic inscriptions from the Balancan Museum and to place them in the general context of the political history of the Wa...aˀ kingdom (also known as Wa-“Bird”) during the Classic period.
