·    K’awiil represented power, in particular, royal power. The god K’awiil was the patron god of royal families (check this – lost reference).

·    One way in which K’awiil represented power was through the “K’awiil sceptre”, which was a symbol of royal authority. Part of some accession rituals was the act of “grasping the K’awiil (sceptre)” (check this – lost reference).
