·    Both MHD and Bonn recognize a subvariant with three dots instead of two.

·    MHD statistics (2024-05-11):

o Classic – Blocks:

§ There were 116 hits in MHD for the query “blcodes contains 1GF”.

§ Of those 116 hits, around 5 had 3 dots.

§ 5/116 = 0.043101…

§ This means that only about 4% of the Classic MHD corpus of xa’s had more than 2 dots.

o All - Blocks:

§ There were 138 hits in MHD for the query “blcodes contains 1GF”.

§ Of those 138 hits, around 17 had 3 dots, and 2 even had 4 dots.

§ 19/138 = 0.13768…

§ This means that more than 13% of the total MHD corpus of xa’s had more than 2 dots. This in turn shows that the proportion of xa’s with more than 2 dots (mostly 3) went up considerably in the Codex forms. In fact, if we consider Codex forms only, then 17 out of 22 Codex xa’s have 3 dots, meaning that the 3-dot form might be considered the most typical.
