Sub-variants (2)

·     A. Full (bird head) (One of the Tokovinine lectures says this is a vulture = lost reference):

o A long, hooked beak, with a tiny dot for a nostril, either at the top or the tip of the beak.

o Eye – dot with:

§ a tick on the left of the dot.

§ a tick on the right of the dot.

o “Sickle” line: attached to the bottom of the dot eye, curving round to under the mouth.

o Optionally, multiple reinforcement (one or two) on the inside of the lower part of the upper beak.

o Soundwaves to the right of the curve of the sickle, towards the right wall.

o A feather as forehead ornament:

§ Bottom: washer.

§ Middle: band or semicircle or ¾ circle.

§ Top: longish pointed, “leaf-like” element with multiple spines running along the long axis.

Interestingly, all the canonical examples from MHD and Bonn have an element which resembles the “bone property marker” in the top right.

·     B. Reduced (feather): Just the feather of the full form:

o The middle element of the feather can have a reinforcement on three of the four sides (in the direction away from the washer).

o Do not confuse this variant with the visually similar SAK:

§ The syllabogram ti has only one “leaf”.

§ The logogram SAK has two or three “leaves”.
